The Dakota Access Pipeline Project is a new project that will connect Bakken and the Three Forks production areas in North Dakota to Patoka, Illinois. The pipeline will also run through South Dakota and Iowa in order to connect the areas.
Earlier this month, Iowa regulators authorized construction in the fourth and final state needed to ship Bakken crude to markets along the East and Gulf coasts.
According to daplpipelinefacts.com, the pipeline will be about 1,168-miles and 30-inches in diameter and will transport 450,000 barrels of crude oil per day.
This project is projected to create between 8,000 and 12,000 construction jobs and 40 permanent operating jobs. Welders, heavy construction workers, mechanics, pipefitters and many other professionals and skills will be needed to complete this project. It’s not a small investment for the United States as it is projected to cost about $3.7 billion dollars.
