Peoria, Arizona

Located around 14 miles northwest of Phoenix, settlers from Illinois established Peoria in 1886 close to the eastern bank of New River. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the population is 154,065, making it the ninth largest in the state. History

The town started to take shape as a suburb of Phoenix in the last half of the twentieth century, increasing from 600 inhabitants in 1920 to more than 151,000 in 2007.
